Mk 3 Ford ST220 - Auto Mirror tilt
Some of these posts refer to a guide which used to be on the MEG forums. With a bit of help have discovered this page http://www.fordmondeo.org/wiki/index.php/Folding_Mirrors_With_Remote_Key_-_Mk3
As it is dated March 2007 it does not appear to be the original instructions.
Is there any way of making the mirrors tilt in when you lock the car?????

Some new fiestas and foci have this on as standard but dont think they have introduced it yet to the mondys, you will have to wait until they do or see if there are any aftermarket ones available.

No doubt there's a lock/unlock/turn the key/lock/unlock/lock/unlock thingy that somebody knows about that will probably do this... There seems to be one for every other function on the car

Must be a way of tapping into the mirrors' circuit - I'm sure someone with a bit of wire and a soldering iron may have an idea?!

I fitted the relay and it only took 15 minutes, works fine thanks for a good tip, make life easier as you also know the cars locked just by looking at it.

One quirky problem with this so far, the mirrors started working the opposite way when i pressed the key (open when should be closed etc). Easy to fix though you press the button on the inside of the door and they go back to the correct settings and works fine.

It realy is quite easy the guide is spot on here is a pic I made for the relay
You can wire up the relay before you put it in the car and then just tap into the two wires using Scotch Lock connectors job done i will take some pics tomorow.

ok here are some extra pics to help anybody wanting to do this mod
ok if you carefully peel back the weather seal (1) and remove trim (2) you will find 3 or 4 bolts - these make an exellent earth point for your wireing
When you remove the coin tray and peak in to your dash with a torch you will see the electronic module mentiond in the guide.
You need to tap into the yelow wire that comes from the connector on the left there should be only one yellow from this conector and please test it as mentiond in the guide to make sure it is the correct one

Looking through the same hole and up to the right you will see where I mounted my relay with some stickey pads.
When you remove the glove box the mirror folding module is the brown one below the fuse box carefully unclip this
and tap into the black wire with the red stripe.
The only thing you have to figure out is where to run the wire just make sure you cable tie it up out of the way of the stearing column and other moving parts.

Nice one
Where did you get the relay from?

The relay was just a four pin 30 amp relay from halfords it was about £3.99 i think.

That's excellent. I like it alot.
At risk of sounding like an Old Women, will this mod invalidate my warranty? I'm assuming it will, in which case I'll have to give it a miss for now...
